FAR–NEAR is a curated cross-cultural book series broadening the perspective of Asia through image, person, idea and history to advance the progress of unlearning the inherent dominative mode.

The inaugural volume on movement

Volume one is a 288-page printed book featuring over 30 creatives, exploring the concept of movement – an act of taking control of your body, changing physical or mental location, arrival and departure by working together to push forward a way of thinking.

Features include Juri Onuki, Shirin Neshat, Pouran Jinchi, Beijing Opera, New Delhi Pride Parade, 9m88, Joji Nakamura, the Gutai Movement and Porochista Khakpour.

About the creator:

Lulu Yao Gioiello is an art director by day, she also runs an art and clothing line, forbabies.

"We want to showcase and highlight different things that aren't usually seen or known about Asian culture, and broaden the perspective of what is Asian," she explains.
