Artist's statement:
This project is about elderly woman wearing facekini on the beach. Facekini is something like bikini but is covering the face.
Many people may think these images are funny. Sure, humor is a part of my intention, but it’s far from my ultimate purpose. In this project, I try to explore a kind of self-gazing with some surreal, dramatic, and humorous portraits of Chinese. This is very similar to the current situation in China, where society is full of surreal landscape. This project attempts to document these fleeting things.
These masks are hand-made by themselves, which are made of tattered vest, rag or swimsuits, and even cloth from useless pants, so you won't find one same mask on the beach.
Each facekini consists of different fabric materials. You may think it's very artistic. They will consider whether the mask goes well with their swimsuit.
In fact, they also know that others may find it ridiculous and strange. But they say the main function of facekini is for UV protection, as well as the offshore pollution in recent years. And more jellyfish attack human. It can avoid getting hurt when wearing a facekini. It also represents another layer of meaning: if you look around the beach, young girls don't wear facekini, men neither. Only middle-aged and elderly women wear mask. So, I think another reason is that these middle-aged and elderly women are ashamed of exposing their aging and deformed bodies. Wearing mask will make them much more comfortable and confident. I still don't know what these people I've photographed look like.

Domestic US Shipping:
- Free domestic US shipping for orders over $100 (1-5 business days depending on your location).
- Express Shipping (1-2 business days) available at checkout for an additional cost.
- All orders are processed within 3 business days upon payment confirmation.
International Shipping:
- Available for all destinations via USPS, FedEx, UPS, or DHL. The best carrier option is shown at checkout based on your package weight, dimensions, and item cost.
Returns & Exchanges
- Items are eligible for return or exchange within 30 days of delivery. Requests made after this window are not eligible.
- Lingerie, swimwear, socks, masks, collectibles, art, and books are not eligible for return or refund at any time.
- SALE items are final sale unless you purchase Seel Return Assurance at checkout, which allows you to return and receive a refund on otherwise non-returnable items. Learn more about Seel Return Assurance here.

Defective or Incorrect Items
Initiate a replacement or return via your account login within 7 days of delivery. Once approved, we'll waive all shipping fees.
Refund Details
- Submit a refund request, wait for approval, then send the item back. If using a carrier of your choice, send us the tracking number at info@chopsueyclub.com.
- The customer is responsible for return shipping charges unless the item is defective or incorrect. We are not responsible for any damaged, lost, or stolen packages during shipping — please contact the carrier directly if this occurs.
- Return packages must include all original tags and accompanying packaging. Returns missing original tags or packaging may incur a fee.
- No restocking fees will be charged.
- Refunds are issued within 5 days of receiving and verifying the returned package.
- We reserve the right to refuse any returned item that doesn't meet our return policies.
